Benign Prostate Enlargement – Tests with Beta-sitosterol
If you’re a well-seasoned guy like myself, there’s a good chance you have Benign Prostate Enlargement or BPE. The technical term is Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). While I do take one medication for this problem, at times, it’s not enough. Then I turn to toasted pumpkin seeds also called pepitas. I get mine from Trader Joe’s and toast them even more. They definitely seem to help me.
According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, pepitas contain Beta-sitosterol and found good results using this supplement. (60 – 130 mg per day).
ConsumerLab.com also recommends Beta-sitosterol and recommends the brand Pure Encapsulations – Beta-sitosterol. It’s available on Amazon. I’m going to try two capsules a day and will report on their effect later. They cost around 31 cents/day.
Note – I have taken this for a month and it seems to work. When I forgot it for a couple of days, symptoms returned. I’m definitely buying more.
